Piupia: Water Baby Fashion for SS17

For babies and children up to four, check out the gorgeous new spring/summer pieces by childrenswear brand Piupia. Always organic and ethical Piupia is baby fashion from a muted underwater world with pastels, textures, prints and colour blocks.

Claudia Carvalho, Founder of Piupia, says: “The collection is inspired by things from everyday life, like a colour combination, or an interior design image. As always, I have kept things simple. But at the same time I’ve introduced playful elements like the big silly fish faces or the textured embroidered knees.”

Claudia founded Piupia in 2013. Having grown up in Portugal, Claudia moved to the UK 10 years ago working in the VFX industry as a 3D artist on commercials and films. Her impressive portfolio includes Dr Strange, Beauty and the Beast and Guardians of the Galaxy. She founded Piupia while on maternity leave with her first child, a little boy. All products are manufactured back in Portugal in her family’s factory. Especially relevant when thinking about childrenswear, the collections use organic cotton and up-cycling stock fabrics under the Oeko-tex 100 certificate.

The SS17 collection creates a splash with its easy-to-wear tees and rompers featuring seaweed and scales, funny fish faces and playful bubble motifs. Summer-ready candy stripes in the soft hues can be mixed with prints and block-colour pieces. Organic cotton sweatshirts are made for layering. Another element features sweet sundresses, culottes and short-sleeved tees will keep little ones cool in the sunshine.

Our favourites are probably the bubble-textured Hive sweatshirt and bloomers, perfect baby fashion for cooler days. The stunning sweatshirt features contrast cuffs and comes in coral or dark grey. The bloomers, also available in coral or dark grey, look super-sweet teamed with the striped or printed pieces from the collection.

Piupia SS17 will be available soon for children aged 3 – 6 months to 4 years at www.piupia.co.uk. Also available at various worldwide stockists.
