by nord COPENHAGEN: Kid’s duvet sets where design meets nature

A great idea for Christmas to combat the toy overload is to make some changes to your child’s sleeping arrangements.

We came across by nord COPENHAGEN’S wonderful kids duvet sets when looking for a first ‘real bed’ set for fluxlings #2 now aged 4. Trying to avoid all the cartoon characters, the by nord styles are cute but beautifully designed.

Featuring photography close-ups of the types of forest and woodland creatures found in Northern Europe on the duvet covers and cushions, you can get nose to nose with deer, foxes, wild horses, squirrels and even bears and wolves. For snow lovers try the polar bears, penguin chicks and baby seals. The duvets can be paired if you wish with pillowcases that, in a clean black font on a white background, tell you all about the animal of your choice; where they live, what they eat, how they socialise.

It was no surprise to find that behind by nord is yet another amazing Scandinavian designer. Hanne Berzant started by nord COPENHAGEN in 2008. Her aim was to, “design beautiful products for the home inspired by raw Nordic nature with a strong focus on sustainability and high quality.” With a background in advertising and magazine publishing, and a lifelong interest in nature and design, the idea incubated over a weekend getaway at a remote windy beach in Sweden. And so by nord was born.

The range looks just amazing, but the by nord story does not end there. There is also an uncompromising focus on quality. The range is manufactured in Portugal, and is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, which means that all materials are environmentally friendly and no harmful substances are used in the production. It’s really soft to the touch, providing the ultimate toasty retreat.

So which creature would you choose? I showed these to the fluxlings and they are loving the deer and the wolf! A good mix there then.
