Fantasy Chairs for Little Angels: Childrens Chairs

If you can imagine an undersized world – maybe Alice has grown too much this time – you can populate it with Little Chairs. A new children’s furnishings company, Little Chairs creates beautiful childrens chairs – child sized traditionally styled and upholstered chairs and sofas from their base in the Peak District.

Launched by Arabella Hampson, the chairs are built to become family heirlooms, handcrafted using only the best materials. Arabella says, “While our childrens chairs make perfect little heirlooms to be handed down through the generations, they are also statement pieces for those who are passionate about interior design: unique miniature items with maximum impact that look stylish and original. We think that our chairs will provide a talking point for guests and look great in any room; not just in a nursery or child’s bedroom.”

And that is true especially of chairs covered in some of their statement fabrics. You can choose from traditional fabrics and colours. Or to make more of a design statement, go for one of the fabulous the Paperboy fabrics covering your chair with graphic animal skeletons or dinosaurs, in black and white or metallics.

As is true of so many of our best children’s designers, Arabella, started Little Chairs after she had her own children and couldn’t find what she wanted. “My husband gave Rufus (now 3) a chair that he had had as a child – a miniature armchair. We had it re-covered and Rufus and his friends all adored it. So of course when Kitty came along (9 months now), we had to have a chair made especially for her.”

The chairs are handmade by specially selected craftspeople in Derbyshire and then combined with Arabella’s design aesthetic in the upholstery selection. Little Chairs currently has four different models all named after stately homes in Derbyshire – so the Tissington, the Haddon, the sofa is the Osmaston, and the day bed is the Chatsworth. And if you have your own fabric, Little Chairs are happy to work with that too so the chair can fit your own design scheme.

If you are looking for a fantasy heirloom for your little angels, this is something a bit different from a silver necklace or a money box. A wonderful gift for a christening, or a special birthday. A comfortable haven to curl up with a book, or play on the DS for hours!
