This month sees the exclusive launch of Pearl Lowe’s first adventure into luxury children’s clothing and costume. Petite Pearl Lowe is a circus themed collection handmade in Frome that this season will appear in exclusively in Harrods.
Part of the infamous Primrose Hill party set with Kate Moss and Sadie Frost in the Britpop years, and mother of model Daisy Lowe, Pearl Lowe’s early career was as lead singer with indie bands, Powder and Lodger. Now cocooned in Somerset with her younger children, and husband and Supergrass and Babyshambles drummer, Danny Goffey, Pearl has a successful career as a designer, that has up to now concentrated on homeware and stationary, including a vintage craft book that gives away where Pearl’s fashion aesthetic lies.
Now she’s turned her talents to fashion for girls. The idea stemmed from Pearl’s passion for design, with each piece carefully handmade in her hometown of Frome by dedicated seamstresses. The collection is available in ages 2 to 9 years, in a bold circus theme, with pieces featuring colourful harlequin prints and dazzling gold sequin detailing.
Pearl said, “From as early as I can remember, I’ve always loved creating. I would customise my clothes, knowing I’d be the only person wearing them. I just loved it. Age 10, I designed my first collection for my mother’s little boutique shop in Covent Garden. I’ve never forgotten the amazing feeling I felt, seeing the clothes I’d designed, hanging there on the rails.”
The Pearl Lowe girls fashion collection will launch exclusively at Harrods from 5th October 2015 on the 3rd floor in the Toy Kingdom. See www.pearllowe.co.uk for information, or see www.harrods.com.
